Buddha loves hockey

I found this chapter on hockey in the most strange place, in a book on living in China by Rudy Kong, called Dragons, Donkeys, and Dust.

The chapter is Buddha loves hockey and my review of it is by the same name.

The History of Hockey

Team Russia hot this year

Team Russia is taking back their NHL players to make a really spiffy team for the World Championships for 2010.

I just posted the roster over at Fort Worth Hockey Examiner: Team Russia Full of NHL Players

As always, I’m trying to keep up with my fave Russian, Sergei Zubov. Have you seen his stats this year? Why couldn’t he have given Dallas those stats??? (not Zubie’s fault he’s not here. Not sure where “blame” should go, Hicks perhaps? His money problems are seriously affecting our precious Stars team.)

Here’s an article on Zubie from earlier in the year: World Championship – Sergei Zubov: “They want me to be a substitute? That’s a spit in my face” (Amazing words for such a calm, happy Zubie in the NHL! He musta really been pissed.)

An even earlier article when he signed with the KHL: Zubov introduced by the KHL

Zubov said: “When I decided to play in the KHL for SKA, I hoped that I would play at the same level I did in the NHL. Now I think I have come to the peak of my physical form. I would not like to predict, but I hope that during the season I will [play at] my former level.”

So much for the pitiful salary the Stars offered Zubie last summer after his surgery.

A few facts with Zubov in them.

Stars meet Blue Jackets Tonight

A little preview

Found this on http://www.internationalhockey.net/

“CSKA Moscow has agreed with Columbus Blue Jackets to loan Russian top prospect, Nikita Filatov for the rest of the season.”

If they can loan out Filatov, do you think the KHL would loan out Zubov to help out the Stars defense?

All the way home from Saturday’s game we had to listen to The Ticket for post game show. Now, I like The Ticket pretty much, but their knowledge of hockey sucks. I don’t know how they got the post game show, nice for them, eh? But really guys, get some hockey pucks between your legs. All this “I guess this” and “I guess that” is not interesting. And speculating on stuff you are obviously just reading stats off a page, please. Even if you’re opinion is wrong (or I disagree), state the opinion like ya mean it.

All the way home we had to listen to them hem and haw about Dallas’ defense. Which defenseman was a “1″ or “2″ etc. Now, we know we are lacking on defense. And what yall didn’t connect the dots to is it is because we didn’t keep the one guy who would have us up the spot in the Western Conference.

Yes, letting Zubov leave is biting us in the butt. Ya coulda just forked over the money and known he’s been such a great, dependable guy all these years, what did you think, he’d run off with your money to Tahiti?

Bad decisions are not the players fault, not in keeping or acquiring team members. It’s management and $$$ (which means Hicks). So, when you go whining about lack of proper or experienced defense on the Stars, don’t demean the guys out there doing their best, point the finger higher up, up there in the ozone.

Let’s get Zubov back and play some playoff hockey.

Stars lose to Canucks

What a frustrating game! Stars played hard but just couldn’t overcome the Canuck attack. We had some great surges, but just couldn’t capitalize.

And that goal-non-goal was a goal, hello!! McFly!! What a crock.

Time to rest and regroup for Tuesday’s game.

Zetterberg out at least two weeks

Dallas Stars play the dreaded Detroit Red Wings Saturday afternoon in Dallas at 2pm. After reading this, maybe they won’t be quite so dreaded:

Female Hockey Star Hayley Wickenheiser

“Rub Out” Causes Female Hockey Star Hayley Wickenheiser To Fight Back

The hard hitting Phaneuf has a younger, 15-year-old brother by the name of Dane who is currently playing minor hockey in Alberta. His team set up an exhibition game with the Women’s Canadian National team last week and things got a little rough.

Playing in the game was “the face of women’s hockey,” Hayley Wickenheiser, who has played a few games of her own with the men. During the play, Dane made contact with Hayley behind his own net and “rubbed her out,” as he later described it to his older brother. Wickenheiser, on the other hand, was not in the receiving mood.

Wait Over For ‘Hawks Fans; Trouble in Columbus?

By Mike Heika
In locking up Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane for five years each at an average salary of $6.3 million and giving Duncan Keith a 13-year deal worth $5.5 million a season, the Blackhawks should be a competitive and entertaining team for years to come. Read More
